Adoption Assistance
If you're considering adoption, DFIN offers financial assistance to help you.

DFIN provides financial assistance for eligible adoption expenses, up to a maximum of $5,000 per calendar year per adoption.

Most expenses directly related to the adoption may be reimbursable, including:

  • Agency and placement fees
  • Legal fees
  • Immigration fees
  • Translation services
  • Airfare for foreign-born children

To qualify, you must be a regular full-time employee and have completed one year of continuous service. Also, the adopted child must be under age 18 at the time a qualified adoption expense is paid or incurred.

You may also qualify for a leave of absence under DFIN’s Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) policy. Visit the HR Policies page on the Intranet for information.

Reimbursement

After you finalize the adoption, you have up to 12 months to file for reimbursement. Follow these steps:

  • Complete the Adoption Assistance Request Form.
  • Submit required documentation, including verification of the completed adoption and copies of receipts for eligible expenses, to the Corporate Benefits Department according to the instructions on the Adoption Assistance Request Form.

Enrolling New Child for Benefits

When you adopt, you may want to enroll your child in DFIN health and welfare benefits. See changing my benefits. New dependents are not automatically covered; you must enroll them for coverage.
