Eligibility
DFIN offers benefits to eligible employees and dependents.

Eligible Employees

In general, you’re eligible for coverage under the Donnelley Financial Group Benefits Plan if you’re classified as one of the following:

  • A regular full-time benefits-eligible employee working an average of 30 hours or more a week.
  • A part-time A benefits-eligible employee who worked at least 1,040 hours during the 12-month period preceding the date on which benefits eligibility is determined.

Eligible Dependents

In general, your eligible dependents include your:

  • Lawful spouse
  • Same-sex or opposite-sex domestic partner
  • Children (including stepchildren) to the end of the month in which they become age 26, and who qualify as dependents as defined in the SPD and any related SMM
  • Dependent children who are age 26 or older and who are mentally or physically disabled and unable to support themselves, subject to conditions defined in the SPD and any related SMM

Ineligible Dependents

Ineligible dependents include:

  • Your parents, grandparents, adult brothers and adult sisters
  • Your grandchildren except if you are the sole legal guardian (as noted above)
  • A spouse/domestic partner or child(ren) covered as an employee or as a dependent of another employee under the Plan
  • A spouse/domestic partner or child(ren) on active military duty

If Your Dependents Become Ineligible

If your dependents become ineligible for coverage under the Plan, you must remove them from coverage generally within 30 days of the date they cease to be eligible. Claims will not be paid for ineligible dependents. Remove ineligible dependents at mydfinbenefits.com or call the Benefits Center.

When Benefits Begin

If you enroll for benefits, your participation takes effect the first day of the month after your date of hire, regardless of the day of the month you started your employment. (For example, if you start in January, your coverage begins February 1; if you start in February, your coverage begins March 1; and so on.) The Plan year is January 1 through December 31.

Making Benefit Changes

You cannot change your benefit elections during the year unless you experience a qualified status change (e.g., marriage, divorce, birth of a child). Learn more about making benefit changes.
